Norfolk Advocates For Children (NAC) is a children’s advocacy center that provides services to children who experience physical, sexual and domestic abuse. The NAC offers immediate response to cases of child abuse and coordinates direct care to these children and families using a child friendly, culturally sensitive and multidisciplinary team approach. The NAC also provides community education and is pleased to off­er the following training for schools, youth serving agencies, law enforcement and/or parents to provide the knowledge, tools and resources to respond effectively to incidences of abuse and prevent violence against children and teens.

Recognizing & Responding to Child Abuse

This training session will help you understand your legal obligations as mandated reporters, recognize possible signs and symptoms of maltreatment, the multidisciplinary team response and CAC approach, how to file a 51A Report, and understand what happens after a 51A Report is filed.

Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children

This training session will help you understand the legal definition of CSEC, the exploiter, indicators of CSEC, the multidisciplinary team response for CSEC, mandated reporting, how to intervene, and available resources.

NetSmartz: Online Safety (Middle School, High School, Parents and Community)

These trainings offer multimedia Internet safety presentations, tailored for specific audiences, such as parents and communities, teens, tweens, and younger children. These trainings provide online resources, videos, and tips to educate, engage and empower children and adults to be safer on and offline. Through our partnership with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children this training is free.
